HONORABLE BEVERLY NETTLES-NICKERSON
INGHAM COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE 

     Judge Beverly Nettles-Nickerson is a life-long resident of Michigan. She graduated from Michigan State University, earned a Master’s Degree in Political Science from Bowling Green University and a Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Upon graduating from Cooley, she clerked for Justice Michael Cavanagh, Michigan Supreme Court. She was appointed: Administrative Law Judge, Corrections Department; legal adviser to legislature; and assistant legal councilor to Michigan’s Governor. In 1990, Governor Blanchard appointed Judge Nettles-Nickerson to the 54-A District Court making her the first African-American to sit on any judicial bench in Ingham County. In 1992, Judge Nettles-Nickerson received the most votes and successfully retained her seat as District Court Judge.
      In 2002, a pioneer, Judge Nettles-Nickerson became the first African-American elected to Ingham County Circuit Court-receiving the highest votes.
     Some of her  current and former committee and service activities include: Chief Judge, 54-A District Judge,1998;  Ronald McDonald House Committee; NAACP, Lifetime Member; Ingham County Community Corrections Board Recipient;   Adjunct Professor, Thomas M. Cooley Law School; Adjunct Professor, Detroit College of Law, Michigan State University; Sparrow Hospital: Women Working Wonders Board; Links, African American women supporting arts, youth and national trends.
     Judge Nettles-Nickerson is married to Attorney Daniel Nickerson. They are the loving parents of three beautiful children.
